Do not specify a liner from overflow or internal staining alone. Inspect the channel, joints, outlets, falls, previous systems and adjacent roof details. Lining is viable only where the retained gutter and preparation can support the selected system.

Restricted outlets or drainage

Debris, damaged leaf guards, undersized outlets or downstream restrictions can make water back up and overflow. Waterproofing will not solve a drainage restriction.

Movement and aged sealants can open joints and details even when the main gutter body remains serviceable.

Corrosion or perforation

The extent of coating loss, corrosion and remaining section determines whether local repair, lining or replacement is proportionate.

Ponding can indicate deformation, settlement, inadequate falls or outlet positioning. The cause must be established before lining.

Cracking, peeling or adhesion loss requires compatibility and substrate checks. Another layer over an unstable build-up can reproduce failure.
